We are a Year 2 class. Our teacher is Miss Bath and our Teaching Assistants are Mrs Andrews and Mrs Hill.
This week’s news:
In English we have begun a topic on non-chronological reports. Last week we planned a report on Greentrees Primary School so this week we will write them. In Maths we are learning to tell the time, we are checking to see which children can read the time to 15 minute intervals and some children are beginning to be able to tell the time to 5 minute intervals! Our topic this term is Zambia, this week we are looking at points of interest in Zambia and using co-ordinates to read a map.

This term in Pandas:
English: We will learn about Non-Chronological reports by writing a prospectus of Greentrees Primary School and linked to our topic learning a report showing what they have learnt about Zambia. We will be following the Letters & Sounds programme for our phonics learning and No-Nonsense Spelling for our grammar, punctuation and spelling learning.
Maths: We will learn how to tell the time to hour, quarter and half intervals and measure linked to capacity.
Science: Our topic for this term is living things and their habitats. We will learn to identify that most living things live in habitats to which they are suited and describe how different habitats provide for the basic needs of different kinds of animals and plants.
RE: We are learning about different beliefs. We will focus on creation stories linked to Christianity and Judaism.
PSHE: Our Jigsaw topic this term is ‘Relationships.’
Geography: We will learn about Zambia concentrating on the area of our link school. We will look at similarities and differences.
Art: This term we will be looking at the artist Quentin Blake linked to our previous English topic on Roald Dahl. We will use water colours to create some artwork.
Music: This term we have Mrs Parsons from Wiltshire Music coming in every other Friday to teach music. We will learn about rhythm, beat and pitch.
PE: Our topics this term is Street Dance and Rounders.
Computing: Our learning this term is about using technology purposefully to create, organise, store and retrieve.
Home Learning: In Year 2, Home Learning is set on a Thursday. If one week your child does not have home learning set it is expected that they will complete tasks from the ‘on-going list’ which is on the home learning policy.

- Reading (from reading book and other books/own literature – we recommend no more than 10 or 15 minutes). Please record and sign the ‘Reading Record’
